What's going my friends?! I'm Sean Pierce Johnson (that's SPJ for short) and welcome to my website. If you're here you most likely know who I am and what I do. If you don't, let me tell you about myself...
I'm a guitarist, songwriter, recording engineer and YouTube Creator from Los Angeles, CA that you can currently find doing his thing in Orange County, CA. I've always loved music but didn't feel the pull to pick up the guitar until I was a preteen. It would make a good story to tell you it was "love at first strum" but it was not! I spent a couple of years fighting the guitar but once I stood on stage in front of an audience for the first time THAT WAS IT.
Everything I did afterward was in service of becoming a professional musician.
After graduating high school, I attended the legendary Guitar Institute of Technology at the Musicians' Institute in Hollywood, CA. I learned so much during my three years as a student there. In many ways, I owe my life to M.I. Not only did I gain a skillset and level of knowledge I NEVER anticipated having, I even met my wife while we were both students there.
After M.I. I had to figure out what to do with myself. My wife Cynda and I had started our band, Cockeyed Optimist, but industry jobs were almost nonexistent.
That's when I discovered YouTube...
I never started my YouTube channel to become "famous". I just knew I had seen some guitar-related videos that were cool and showed me something new. I knew I had some gear no one had made a video about so I grabbed a camera and shot a video. Now, over a decade later, I've parlayed that into a career demoing and showcasing the BEST guitars, amps and pedals in the world! I've worked with so many great companies and have even gotten to work with some absolute LEGENDS in the business.

These days, my whole life is music: I'm writing and composing songs for my band, Cockeyed Optimist, and my first solo record. I serve on the worship team at Oceans Church in Irvine, CA. I continue to host my pedal demo show "Stompbox Saturday" and partner with companies around the world to create video content. Life is busy to say the least...
